Like old soldiers, its time for John McCain to just fade away

According to Breitbart.coms April 7th, 2013 article titled, McCain: I dont understand filibustering gun control, Senator John McCain expressed bewilderment on CBS Face the Nation that GOP Sens. Cruz, Lee and Paul would filibuster gun control legislation. I dont understand it, McCain said. The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.
McCains comments should set off alarms in every Republican, Conservative, and Libertarian household. Hes the poster child for how intellectually bankrupt the old guard of the Republican Party has become.
The Second Amendment should never be up for debate. The Second Amendment should never be allowed to be undermined by the political whims of the day on either the House or Senate floor. To even consider NOT filibustering ANY gun control bill, even if it means tying up the Senate through the next election if need be, is a direct affront to the main foundational principles upon which this country was founded.
To quote Mahatma Gandhi, All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take. In other words, McCains overriding fealty towards his notion of Senate decorum and protocol insults every foundational principle upon which many of our nations service members gave away all of their tomorrows for our todays. If he is willing to subject hallowed foundational principles to debate and a vote, he is willing to compromise away most anything we hold dear on our side of the aisle.
It is McCains number one duty to protect the Constitution, which includes the Bill of Rights, against all threats. Accordingly, it is his duty to protect the Second Amendment, without which no other right can withstand assault.
Even with the perceived innocuous attempts to legislate away guns from the mentally ill, these assaults should be aggressively fought, as well. If liberals have taught us anything, they have taught us that any inch yielded will ALWAYS be perverted and twisted into an unwieldy kilometer.
Everyone educated in how the liberal establishment operates knows only too well that this mental illness angle is nothing more than a Trojan horse for future mental gymnastics by their federal and state bureaucracies that THEY OWN lock, stock, and barrel. Liberal bureaucrats WILL change the definition of what is mentally ill over time. We, and/or our children, will someday be labeled mentally ill if we show reverence to the Judeo/Christian world view, hold dear the Bill of Rights, hold fast to the proven fact that Global Warming is nothing but a hoax, dont believe that animals are equal to humans, etc. Only those with extremely limited intellectual horizons will suggest otherwise.
Its time for the Old Guard to bow out. McCain, and others that think like him, need to leave the Party, to minimize the damage they cause to the country. They need to just fade away.

Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American peoples liberty teeth and keystone under independence From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable . . . the very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference they deserve a place of honor with all that is good (George Washington)
The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. (Thomas Jefferson)
No Free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. (Thomas Jefferson, Proposal Virginia Constitution, 1 T. Jefferson Papers, 334, [C.J.Boyd, Ed., 1950])
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms .The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants (Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William S. Smith in 1787. Taken from Jefferson, On Democracy 20, S. Padover ed., 1939)
The supposed quietude of a good mans allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them (Thomas Paine, I Writings of Thomas Paine at 56 [1894])
but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights (Alexander Hamilton speaking of standing armies in Federalist 29.)
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country (James Madison, I Annals of Congress 434 [June 8, 1789])
Americans have the right and advantage of being armed unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. (James Madison, The Federalist Papers #46 at 243-244)
That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of The United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms (Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, at 86-87 (Peirce & Hale, eds., Boston, 1850))
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? (Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836)
“McCain was a war hero a long time ago. . .”
So was Benedict Arnold. Actually Benedict Arnold, before he became a traitor, contributed more to this nation than John McCain. Due to his actions, Benedict Arnold is no longer honored. Has McCain’s treachery and corruption (Keating 5) reached the point where we need no longer honor him?
Keep asking. You will hear the report.
I don’t thank him for his service or his sacrifice. He collaborated with the enemy and because his daddy was an Admiral it was kept from the press. But talk to those who were locked up with him. He got special priviledges. The man has been a traitor since the 70s. And to think I voted for the SOB. Forgive me, Lord.
McCain wasn't in Congress when the Abscam scandal broke. Murtha was caught in Abscam. McCain was part of the Keating 5.
100 petty dictators, that's what McCain's Senate has become.
Indeed, by deed.
Make that a double, please !
My only defense is the traitor, the communist racist, the spineless manchurian negro sissy, the current 'cØward n thief'.
Fade away?
Like to see Juan McLame jump off the capital dome
it is his living epitaph....”I don’t understand”
You’re right about Keating 5 for McCain and Abscam for Murtha. Seems like so many are swallowed up in the Tidal Basin Scum.
