I think all the talk about why Lady Thatcher did not see Sarah Palin is all fantasy talk. I think that the two did not connect was simply that Lady Thatcher was not well enough to see anyone.
There is too much speculative talk as to what Sarah and Margaret would talk about if such a meeting did take place. We will never know and those who continue to engage in fantasy talk, know very well that we will never have Lady Thatcher available to correct the record.
Guy Ritchie/Julian Gilbey movies have done ya’ll about as much good as Tarantino has done for us crass culture wise.
She’s still a royal bitch though.
Oh give me a break. HALF the reason for so much distain for Palin, amidst Republicans anyway...is her “folksiness” come’s accross to urban-upper-middle class folk as “country” or “hick.” The fact that she left the kitchen when it heated up in Alaska too...makes Palin a conservative gadfly—who will likely not run for office any time soon.
The soap-opera drama of her kids too (illegitimate birth, Dancing with the Stars, etc. etc.) doesn’t win Mrs. Palin any “family values” respect either.
I’ve never understood the absolute loyalty to someone as flawed as a national candidate as Palin. Yes, I do agree with most things she says, and yes, she does have guts and lots of spunk....and yes, she is a breath of fresh air compared to the RINOs in charge of the GOP....BUT, Mrs. Palin also comes accross as someone whos talk...is bigger than her walk.
We Conservatives need to get over it and identify, support and raise up real leaders, who’ve stayed in the hot kitchen—not persons famous...for being famous.

Fortunately, some of us focus on substance instead of superficiality. Sadly, many are caught up in appearance. I’ll take “accomplishments” over “carriage” any day.
Biden is no Thatcher. Apples and oranges.
Unfortunately Thatcher has the accomplishments to match the carriage.
It’s just a fact. People instinctively react to what they see and hear on the surface. And most people see things the same basic way. It’s in line with the whole “he’s very attractive, too” syndrome such as famously applied to JFK. People can’t help it.
I hate to say you’re basically right.
The biggest thing about Palin that really bugged me was her alleged support for the Bridge to Nowhere. That really gives me pause. Yet hardly has it ever been mentioned. So besides points you mentioned, I have my doubts.
Although I don’t know that she seems too hick. I don’t see that at all, except some might say Alaska = sparse rural land = cold redneck. In herself, she doesn’t seem that way though.
Well if Lady Thatcher was still alive, there would be little debate between her and Palin... she was and Palin is a true Conservative and they would have little to debate over.
