We snidely called this the “Child Molester Song”. It was a one-it wonder and came in at #75 on its way to the Top 10. One guy from this group participated in the Soul Survivors, and then Survivor in the Eighties. (Drumbo, what was his name?)

These guys were from Detroit, and this was yet another one-hit wonder, coming in at #7.

His name is Jim Peterik and oh my goodness - he was anything but a one hit wonder! Even The Ides of March had a follow up with “(I’m Your) Superman”, but, Jim went on to front Survivor and wrote the anthem, “Eye of the Tiger,” the theme from Rocky III.

He’s also co-written songs for the likes of 38 Special, The Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackhawk, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, Cathy Richardson, Van Zant, Brian Wilson, REO Speedwagon and The Beach Boys to name a few.

He currently fronts the rock band Pride of Lions, a smooth-jazz project called Jim Peterik’s Lifeforce, and has a regular series of yearly concert performances with an all-star cast known as World Stage International. Jim is also active as a producer and known as a mentor to young, developing talent.

In the early 1970s, before Ides of March, he wrote several songs recorded by the jazz-rock band Chase, fronted by Maynard Ferguson’s protege, the late Bill Chase including their hit (”Get It On (In The Morning”).

He did 5 albums with Ides of March, 7 with Survivor, a couple with Kelly Keagy, 5 with Pride of Lions, 2 with Lifeforce and some solo albums as well. He’s won Grammys and is a R’n’R Hall of Fame inductee. He’s toured with Heart and Boston, as well as Ides of March and Survivor reunions.

Jim’s voice is still awesome, coaching Bo Bice when he sang “Vehicle” winning runner-up on American Idol in 2005.
In 2012, Peterik both co-wrote and made an appearance on The Beach Boys’ reunion album, “That’s Why God Made the Radio.” Jim’s an awesome talent!
