I believe everything you say, except us being invaded. We have nuke subs capable of destroying the planet on patrol 24/7. Any attempt to boat a landing force over here would give away whoever was behind the attack.A fleet of Russian ships caught in the Gulf of Mexico would result in a party that wouldn't end well for them.And we aircraft groups placed in places that wouldn't be affected by the initial attack. Now, your assessment of the potential damage caused here in the states is spot on IMHO.

It would get dicey post EMP attack. Very dicey. We would be more vulnerable than we’ve possibly ever been since 1812. The last time we were invaded.

It would be a great temptation to China and Russia.
