North Korea Likely To Launch 'A Relatively Small Attack (shorten)
Business Insider ^ | 4/4/13 | Geoffrey Ingersoll

The most probable outcome of all these tensions is a low-level "tactical" strike from North Korea. But don't worry, it'll be "a relatively small attack that won’t leave many people dead," Sue Mi Terry, a Columbia University professor who served as a senior analyst on North Korea at the CIA from 2001 to 2008, told Wired's Spencer Ackermann.

I remember a martial arts school which specialized in “counter-punching”. Unlike most martial arts schools that teach that “those who cross the gate (center of the ring) first usually win”, the counter-punchers would lie in wait, and just use minor feints if possible, to get their opponent to come in on them.

And then they would punch them hard enough to knock seven bells out of them.

This was also the technique used by the Germans against the French in the Franco-Prussian war, at the end of the 19th Century. Through a diplomatic trick, a rewritten, insulting telegram sent to the egotistical blowhard Emperor Napoleon III, called the “Ems dispatch”, he lost his cool and ordered a few French military units to cross into Germany and break things.

Even back then, this was “aggressive war”, and made France the “bad guy”, internationally. But little did Napoleon III realize, but most of the German army was hidden, just across the border, ready to “counter punch” as soon as the French invaded. And they did, in spades.

They barely bothered with the French invaders, but pressed on all the way to Napoleon III himself, who they deposed as the Emperor of France. The war was very short, only a couple of weeks, and then the victorious Germans went home.

Now, about Korea.

I would give even odds that “fat kid” is planning some minor attack, like the sinking of the Cheonan or the bombardment of Yeonpyeong island. However, I suspect that if and when he does so the SKor military is more than ready to do some serious hurt on the NKor, and on something(s) very important to them.

Remember that they have a lot of payback due for the attacks the North have done to them already. Especially for the sinking of the corvette Cheonan.

Missing from alll of this dialogue is any concern about the response of the ROK. The North Koreans have doubled the size of their army in the past two decades with the proclaimed objective of invading South Korea and unifying it with North Korea. The North Koreans have developed nuclear weapons while South Korea is denied the right to develop nuclear weapons as a defensive countermeasure. In response to these provocations, South Korea has embarked on a programme to develop its own major air, ground, and sea weaponry to reduce its dependency upon the weapons systems of the United States and other foreign nations who can deny South Korea access and support for those weapons systems. North Korea knows Sotuh Korea is about to bolster its own defenses, so it may attempt to carry out its offensive now to avoid facing an ever stronger South Korea in the next few years. Knowing North Korea may attempt to preempt the growth of the South Korean defense establsihment and deploy more nuclear weaponry in the future, South Korea may find it more desirable to meet the North Korean threat now to avoid the threat of a growing North Korean nuclear weapons arsenal in the next few yeears.

Bottomline: North Korea may be initiating an offensive war against a South Korea who is ready to take the war to a final conclusion with the defeat and occupation of North Korea. So much for anything POS kerry may have to say about the matter.

If she runs for president, this should run as an add the entire time on every tv channel until she stops.

That is just hilarious!

The unfortunate thing about contemplating a conflict btwn North and South Korea is that it will not be about those two countries.

It will be a conflict btwn China and the U.S. THAT is the reason for my concerns about the idiots at the helm of State and Defense and the traitor on Pennsylvania Ave!

If it came down to a contest btwn North and South Korea, I have little doubt that the South would prevail. Absent nukes, they are better armed, better trained and about 4+ inches taller and lots of pounds heavier due to better nutrition for generations. ROK Marines are crazy bastards; I’ve seen them fight playfully in Asia - they’re nuts. Nobody messes with them.
