Flashback: JC Penney stands by Ellen DeGeneres as spokeswoman

J.C. Penney Co Inc said on Friday said it fully backs its partnership with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres after a conservative group urged the retailer to reconsider hiring DeGeneres as a spokeswoman because she is a lesbian.

-snip-

Penney's decision to hire DeGeneres spurred conservative group One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, to slam the company for not being "neutral in the culture war."

"Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. More sales will be lost than gained unless they replace their spokesperson quickly," the organization posted on their website, urging supporters to call their local J.C. Penney store manager to lodge complaints against hiring DeGeneres.

I actually like Elen...but there no reason whatsoever for having her as a rep save for another weak-d*ck liberal appeal to the gays. JCP is like many other companies that appear to forget that they are there to make us happy by selling us things we want...not to vend silly political causes.

As for Jacque Cee Penays.....they are toast.

Adios, JCP.

JC Penny might want to just revamp their entire marketing plan. I know they think because Ellen has the number one show on daytime that somehow that means people will flock to her store. It isn’t happening. Although she seems wholesome on the show, she is not in real life and that is one reason why JC Penny is going down. But really I think it is because JC Penny’s is a run down store. Both JC Penny’s and Sears are like a mismash of crap all over the place without any identity. Khols, Macy’s and other retail stores are able to keep with with what people want.

One Million Moms.

I heard from someone that One Million Moms had less than 20 thousand members but just liked the name. I didn’t belive that so I had to look at Facebook and dang it if they weren’t right. They have about 17,000. I wonder why they use One Million Moms and what the heck do they do?

Believe me, it is hard for us to wean our way off JCPenney’s. We’ve been loyal customers of the store for at least 3 generations.

It is rather amazing how quickly poor management can destroy a well-established firm these days

Maybe. But people like numbers and back up proof. It gives people more respect for the organization. That is why the Million Man March was always a joke and taken that way because they never had the numbers that they insinuated.

Well, I certainly voted with my feet and pocketbook when they used Degenerate...and I used to shop there a lot.
I also do not go to Macy’s, use Revlon, Cover Girl, and other companies who have no problem using libs but would never hire Rush.
Yes, it’s hard to stick by this but I do the best I can...

I rarely go to malls anymore...just happened to walk into a local Pennys on my way to another store...weekday morning...I believe I was the only non-employee in the entire store.

In fact, there weren’t many employees either. The place was one, huge, empty barn filled with inventory. How much longer can they hang-on? If they think signing on with Team Obama media types is a good idea...I question their marketing.

Hard to revamp the marketing plan when your head ceo just quit. The third ceo who has jumped ship in seven months.

The store is in trouble because Johnson hasn’t a clue what the public wants and isn’t listening to those who are trying to tell him..including the public.

There’s also a huge gap in communication from top to bottom. You cannot leave management teams dangling without knowing the plans. Johnson operates as he did at Apple, keeping everything with his circle..he does not understand the open door communication retail requires.

The stock holders are not going to give him much more rope....he’s on a short leash now and must make a favorable difference within a few months if not weeks now.

I thought JC Penny was in bankruptcy liquidation (or is circling the drain).

It is like anything else with liberals, they would rather go down with the ship than admit being wrong.

I work there....we’ve lost so many customers that it’s hard to believe the difference from just a year ago....and it wasn’t all that good then.

The public is very angry over these changes, and they were quick to air their anger to employees daily....getting to the point where employees left...it was like getting beat up every day. These were long term employees leaving.

I haven’t shopped there since the she became the spokesman. I will walk around outside to get to another store even if it is longer.

So sorry to hear that. JCP employees always have been nice and we relied on them to help us with things like fitting draperies and such, also their clothing has been of good quality and reasonable price most of the time, too.
It is EASY for us to drop Star*ucks (their product has no taste at all, and their prices are outrageious). But dropping JCP is really much more difficult (yes I know there are other places that sell drapes and clothing, and we will go there, but when you have been “raised” by your parents and grandparents to patronize a store, it is a bit harder to move along to other merchants)

The remain liquid because of their properties and they’ve extended their credit line . ..but they cannot continue as is for much longer.

I don’t see bankruptcy ahead at all....and I work there. If it continues to slide there are varying options they can resort to...one of which Johnson will be booted....IMO should have been awhile back.

But the problem is the customers are not buying the changes....they’ve lost their base customers and have yet to attract the younger customers.....this was expected but certainly not to the degree that’s playing out.

No more jcp for me. It was the one place I could easily find clothes to fit as I am short. Loved the prices and the quality... loved St. John’s Bay and it always seemed like a good middle class family store. Now with the gay agenda, “shops” and the cheesy store brand who can even tell who they are. The store in my neck of the woods is empty. I head to Belks now and find everything I want plus amazing sales! Without the agenda. Who the heck needs politics when all you want is a good day shopping!

CNBC has not had one peep about Degenerate causing the collapse of JCP. They blame everything else BUT bad decisions.

Those experts do not see the current ceo lasting the year. The board is in full omg omg omg omg alert.
