Leading gun-control advocate Mark Kelly warned Republican senators Sunday that trying to block a vote on new firearms legislation that includes universal background checks could hurt their re-election efforts.

Kelly, a former astronaut and Navy captain, directed his remarks to Sens. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, among five Republican senators who have suggested they will filibuster a debate and full floor vote.

“They should listen to their constituents” and not get in the way of the debate, Kelly told “Fox News Sunday.”

Rubio is in a blue state that is only getting bluer. That is the problem.

On the one hand, it’s a shame that a guy like this - - an astronaut - - allows himself to get dragged into a political pandering scheme by the scumbag rats. On the other hand, his wife is a rat, and he DID allow himself to get dragged into it. Screw Kelly.

Is there nothing that the Republicans will not do for election results? I doubt it!

I guess the idea of the Constitution, ideals, and maybe personal beliefs is beyond the pale these days.

Can’t we all just get along! Geez, what a horrible statement (originally made by the left). No, we can’t!

There are major differences in beliefs that you folks just can not understand. Unfortunately, neither can our side! So just keep doing what you are doing and you are bound to win in the long run. Damn, I hate politics!!

It is more of a purplish state as long as you can keep convicted felons, illegal immigrants, and dead people from voting for dems.

A shuttle “astronaut” is not all that impressive to me. Flying the shuttle has all of the technical challenge of a 24 year old captaining a CRJ.

...now those Apollo dudes...

I suspect that Kelly is going to run for the House seat his wife held. Her administrative assistant leveraged it in the special when Kelly was still astronauting. I think they allowed Barber to run in 2012 election because they were not sure the Democrats could hold that seat and Kelly did not have a good handle on the ‘message’. Now Kelly has a mission and by January ‘14 will have the message packaged and ready. They will convince Barber to take one for the team and not run again. SHAZAM! January 2015, Say hello to Congressman Mark E. Kelly.

It was good. When he got caught, he said he was doing it for the purpose of embarrassing the gun shop, then acted surprised when the gun shop told him to pound sand and don’t bother coming back for anything.

And Chris Wallace said nothing about it while giving Mr. Giffords a chance to explain himself.

I’ll bet your right! That’s a very liberal district with a lot of illegal voters. The sad thing is, he’ll probably win. FNC is really pimping for this chump this morning. I had to turn it off.

“Most men who are in the military that long would probably retire as at least a colonel.”

A full Navy Captain (O-6) is the equivalent to an Army, Marine, or AF full Colonel (0-6). It is odd, however, that Kelly would retire on 24 years, unless he was going to be passed over for promotion. Observing the pass over is a long tradition when promotions at the higher levels of command are announced.

The first time I saw him I knew he was a smarm. No loving decent man would let their grievously wounded wife be used as a prop. I am surprised he doesn’t pull her around in a little red wagon so he can move faster from show to show.

I disagree with both of your points. His heart is *not* in the “right place,” he’s trying to cash in on tragedy. Newtown was like manna from heaven for him. He is a ghoul. And he knows *nothing* about conservatives that he hasn’t been told by people like Chris Matthews. That’s not twisted, it’s willfully ignorant.

The guy is a bald Sarah Brady, milking the spouse for every bit he can get. I wouldn’t cross the street to save him from any misfortune.

Everyone I know wrote letters to the shop (it’s close to where I live) — saying they never should have sold to the gun grabber to begin with. I’m not sure if the boycotts were starting to have an effect, or if the store just did the right thing.

The as@troll didn’t even have an AZ driver’s license — and claimed he forgot his (TX?) license at home. He’s a lying, cheating piece-of-unmentionable.

Just a bit of a joke...heh. Was saying that you could probably put all Democrats into this list and exclude almost all Republicans. Of course there are always differences.

Beginning to doubt all theses Republicans though. Seems to me that other parties are a better fit (not by much - but getting better). Maybe it’s time to throw the Republicans under the bus! After all they are poised to welcome homosexual marriage so why continue to support them? They have beome an immorral party just like the other..
