Freeper Doctor Raoul Has Died

Doctor Raoul died Saturday of a rare form of cancer. He was 58.

Raoul's family contacted us this morning to see if they could find out more about his activities as an activist.

This is such a shock. His family is looking for photos and stories about him.

He is and always will be a Free Republic icon.

He kind of fell off the face of the earth about 2 or 3 years ago now. All attempts we made to reach him failed.

I think it was Doctor Raoul in prison stripes at the inaugural ball. But he usually wore the devil costume at the regular protests. Gov. Huckabee’s band rocked!!

Heady days indeed, and they are sorely missed !
Mine's the inverted flag about halfway down the block .. the ex held it so I could get the pic.
Speaking of, she got herself on the front page of the Compost, holding that same flag, on one of our FReeps at the Navy Memorial.

But re that day on Mass Ave, am particularly remembering the lady, who owned one of the houses we were congregated in front of, bring out hot chocolate for all and sundry.
It was a welcome treat on a blustery day, as much for its obvious moral support as for the warmth of the cocoa !

I've sinced relocated far enough north in PA that getting to DC at $4/gal has become mostly prohibitive.
Oh but what good memories those are .. when what we were up in arms against at the time seems like such small potatoes compared to today's flat out Looter takeover.

I'd love to know if enough younger people have joined up in the interim to pick up the flag from us aging warriors as the battle continues into the years ahead . . .

Huckabee was wonderful. I have a whole different opinion of him than most do because of his appearance at the Ball. He’ll always be one of the good guys IMHO.

I thought that was Dr. Raoul that night because I thought I saw him without his mask hiding back in the display area. Those masks are HOT!

I have such fond memories of the Ball and meeting eveybody. I consider it one of the highlights of my life. We had such high hopes. Of course, that was in the era of September 10th!

Do you remember the sisters from Iowa wearing the red cowboy hats? I don’t remember their names, but somebody should ping them.

BTW, somebody should ping Bob J. He did the video of that party. So, I’m adding his name to this note and hoping that he considers it a ping. And gorush and cultural canary to.

Abner and I made 50 or more of those Sore/Loserman signs in the signshop and handed them out to the crowd on Massachusetts Ave. Remember the “Get Out of Cheney’s House” chant? That day there were 300-400 of us and 20 on the other side of the street. CNN reported it was about 50 on each side.....

RonDog, When you came up to lead the Cow Palace Freep of BillyJeff Clintoon, Dr. Raoul graciously and without charge mailed me some of the costume I wore (Clinton mask, prison stripes, oversized hands). He said I could keep the outfits, that I didn’t have to send ‘em back.
