CBS opened Sunday night's episode of "The Amazing Race" with an apology to veterans offended by the previous week's installment, which took place in Vietnam.
"Parts of last Sunday's episode, filmed in Vietnam, were insensitive to a group that is very important to us -- our nation's veterans," host Phil Keoghan read in a statement from producers and the network. "We want to apologize to veterans -- particularly those who served in Vietnam -- as well as to their families and any viewers who were offended by the broadcast. All of us here have the most profound respect for the men and women who fight for our country."
The segment in question took place at the site of a crashed American B-52 bomber, now a memorial, where contestants went to pick up a clue. Two Americans were killed when the bomber went down.

Wait! This is getting legs? OK, we apologize.
The apology was interesting, but last night’s highlight was the gay kid who freaked out at having to touch a scorpion. The way he freaked out, you’d have thought someone put a Playboy in front of him.
Still like CBS’s “The Mentalist” and “Vegas.” “Vegas” was moved to Friday but both shows are in danger of being canceled. In recent years I learned that dramas set in the past cannot survive with just good ratings. High production costs demand great ratings to keep a show alive.
CBS = Communist Broadcasting System.
Nothing more to say.
Yes. He was the first media personality to speak out loudly against what CBS did. He contacted veterans groups for help. He really went after CBS on this. Sure, he’s a liberal and wrong on most everything else, but I respect his actions on this one.
Uncle Ho was nowhere near as brutal as Uncle Joe and simply trying to find his place in the litany of mass murders. Joe told Ho to get back to him when he got to double digits, Mao told them both to wake him when they got to tripple digits ...
Thank Congress. They gave-up in Vietnam. Not the American military.
And the screwing has continued since, non-stop.
