The Irish Rovers were Canadian, although they were Irish-born. This song helped get them a CBC-TV series in the Seventies. The song was written by Shel Silverstein, also known for “A Boy Named Sue” and a lot of other songs and poems. It came in at #27 this week on its way to #1.
