Comcast Cable, "the nation's largest cable provider," has decided it will not accept firearm and ammunition advertisers in the future.
This decision comes after Comcast has been running ads for some gun and hunting groups for decades. Comcast chose this new position after purchasing NBCUniversal, which has a long-standing ban against firearm, ammunition and firework advertisements.
This move brings Comcast in line with its competitors, Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications.
Cox already had a ban similar to the one Comcast has now instituted and Time Warner Cable announced in January that it was banning "ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people."

My question is will they also not allow the same to be seen in programming they provide?
Of course not. That would cost them something. Viewers would leave in droves.

How is FIOS working out? Comcast sucks and I want to upgrade my internet (Verizon DSL) also.

I got FIOS in 2008 after years of crappy service by comcast.
Their service is much better., Their equipment is better and more modern with less problems. I rarely had problems but when I did their service was better. Comcast runs coax cables to the house, Verizon ran fiber-optics.
Their service technicians are knowledgeable and professional in contrast to comcast,
During the years I had comcast their equipment was crap and their service was crappy. Many times they broke their own equipment on servives calls and left forcing me to setup yet another appointment. It painful to call them with problems
Comcast had no ground cable competition here for way too long.
I got FIOS soon after they ran their lines through the neighborhood. They are more expensive than comcast (I think) but a few bucks isnt worth being treated like crap.,
Also where I live weekly neighborhood outages for comcast were regular, typically Saturday night, Verizon hasn't yet,

I’m currently getting digital cable over Comcast’s coax. Well, I’d be getting it if it worked, which it hasn’t in a couple months. It’s time to cancel. If I can go a month without missing cable I don’t need it that much.
Fios Internet speed would be nice, too. Verozon DSL isn’t bad (I go back to dial-up with AOL), but it coul be a lot faster.

Much as I despise Comcast and their ban, there is a certain rationale: since the ads reach such a vast audience across hundreds of jurisdictions, and so many of those areas have such stupid and conflicting gun laws with severe penalties, it’s just legally safer for them to avoid the whole issue altogether. Maybe bias, maybe just not a fight they want to risk.
I love FIOS where I live in Howard County. At this stage in my life and relative success here having quality working cable and internet is way more important than saving few bucks.’
I got the multiroom DVRs that allow recordings and playback access from each TV box to another’s recordings, Those are addictive.
Whenever my contract 2 years expires they call me to sign up for another and so I make believe I might leave them to get temporary customer appreciation monthly credits (discounts) out of them, usually a year long. It never hurts to bluff.
FU comcast. I wouldn’t recommend you to my worst enemy.
