I considered that, however also that perhaps the next-door neighbor was the aunt instead. Also, if it was the mother, perhaps it was long ago enough that she might not have recognized the son after a few years from growing from a pre-pubescent to a 17-year-old. Furthermore, the mother having a criminal history, I figured it was possible her children were taken away from her at some point, leaving open the idea that she resided next to West without her son. And statements by the police about it being strictly random are not to be taken as accurate simply at face value, we all know how badly the cops can blow it sometimes.
