The AR-15 first tested in Vietnam was fully automatic.

I do not believe a semi-auto version like Lanza’s has ever been used in a meaningful way, as a ‘weapon of war’.

Fair enough. But it was an AR-15.

I would never own a fully automatic rifle because doing so has been illegal since 1934. But should I happen to possess a legally owned rifle that has been converted to fully auto it is still the same rifle. Of course, as I said, I would never do that because that would be illegal. :-)
