Who the hell says yes? On what basis? A better question is how much if any silver lining is there from that unmitigated disaster? I am embarrassed for thinking it a good idea at the time. Of course I was not expecting that level of incompetence but rather something effective like the first gulf war.

I saw a poll recently and plenty of Republicans still said yes.

Looks like most freepers say no.

If Clinton had done it, there would have been tons of GOP opposition, remember Kosovo? I was a teenager, I remember thinking it was a bad idea. Lesson #1 don’t just go along with whatever the President does just cause he’s a Republican.

My point is - we can not turn them into “liberal democrats” and we can’t create stability among them. The best policy in my view, is encourage their internal strife and keep them off balance by having them fight each other.
