Washington DC - -(Ammoland.com)- Contrary to the American Bar Associations (ABA) contention that the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) is consistent with the Second Amendment andwould not require new domestic regulations to hamper the exercise of the rights therein, the reality is that if ratified, the ATT could make guns as scarce as ammo and the exercise of the Second Amendment difficult indeed.
And heres how this would happenthe ATT contains ambiguities regarding the application of new firearm regulations and import restrictions. And this means the moment the ATT goes into effect should it be ratified the types of guns allowed to enter America would largely depend on each U.S. Presidential administrations opinion of what is or isnt appropriate.
In this way, the ATT actually hands the executive branch the power to work with other governments around world to shut down portions of the U.S. import firearms market as they see fit. This will be possible by seizing on ambiguous terms and phrases within the ATTfrom claiming certain classes of gun are inappropriate to claiming others endanger women and childrenthen barring whole groups of firearms from import.

Bump for later
2014 can't come soon enough.
And yet... What are they doing woth all those guns?
Certainly not anything that is slowing Cuomo/Bloomberg down one bit....
“Some good black market supply lines might actually bring prices down! “
Most illegal arms originated in Venezuala, and then made their way to Central America, according to the smuggling data from the Customs Department. Then it was shipped north to Mexico’s cartels.
I haven’t looked at the data recently, but off the top of my head I’d guess that Porky kicking the bucket in Venezuala might cause a shift in the illegal arms supply line, but it’s only a guess on my part. Some other gun-runner might move in to pick up the slack.
Everything is probably in flux right now, but once it gets rolling again, we’ll be able to pick up anything we need that’s not crew-served. Think “Wild Bunch” in reverse.
There were reports that Uncle Sam was supplying some cartels with anti-aircraft guns.
Yee hawww! ;^)
“Just the deer hunters in this country would be the largest, best equipped light infantry force in the history of mankind.”
True. But it might be wise to ditch the blaze-orange clothing.
ATT could make guns as scarce as ammo
***This makes zero sense. Ammo is far more ubiquitous than guns. Each gun owner might have 1-2 guns and 200 rounds of ammo, for instance.
you make it sound like we are sitting on our hands here.....meetings are overflow - legal challenges numerous
AND YOU ARE BEING IGNORED.
Same in New York.
Same in Illinois.
Same here in Minnesota.
You can pack every meeting with 100% gun supporters and give the most beautiful and heart-wrenching support for our Rights that is humanly possible.
It won’t make a difference.
They will pass as much of this as they can, every time the can, everywhere they can. And they will not stop until they have total control.
Period.
Anything less is pure fantasy.
Need proof? There are several court cases going on right now that should have put a stop to at LEAST the NY “SAFE” Act. And yet, we just heard a story last week where yet another person was nabbed for an otherwise legal sale of arms and magazines.
The courts won’t stop this. Declarations from your local Sheriff are comforting, but ultimately hollow. Elections are over a year and a half away and are no guaranty...
You do not play by the rules against people who are LAWLESS and expect to win.
