...defected to neighboring Jordan and said in an interview aired on Saturday that morale among those still inside the regime had collapsed... Maj Gen Mohammed Ezz al-Din Khalouf announced his defection from Assad's regime in a video aired Saturday on the Al-Arabiya satellite channel. It showed him sitting next to his son, Capt Ezz al-Din Khalouf, who defected with him. The elder Khalouf said that many of those with Assad's regime have lost faith in it, yet continue to do their jobs, allowing Assad to demonstrate broad support... He also said fighters from the Lebanese military group Hezbollah were fighting in Syria in "more than one place," but did not give further details. The [Assad regime] did not immediately comment on the defection. It portrays the uprising as a foreign-backed conspiracy to weaken Syria being carried out by terrorists on the ground.

Have a great day.
It portrays the uprising as a foreign-backed conspiracy to weaken Syria being carried out by terrorists on the ground.
Both sides are terrorists.. maybe several “sides”.. are all terrorists..
All the decent people have been murdered in Syria, Iraq, Iran and Jordan years and years ago..
Oh! and Turkey.. and Egypt.. Libya, Morroco, and Sudan.. and Ethiopia.. and several other African countrys..
light weight
geez, those supporting Omar have stood for a lot longer
It’s fight or die for those backing Assad.
This guy left the country others cannot. When the rebels take over there will be mass slaughter, and those still fighting know it.
I thought generals were already high ranking?
The Syrian Front is one place that I hope the Iranians “win” and BHO “loses”.
I say let the Syrians kill each other off, and let Israel move in and annex it.
Generally, yes.
The general is fortunate that he had the opportunity to defect — the other poor souls will have to wait for a, hopefully, quick and merciful death.
WTSHTF in this country, those with money will also haul *ss in their private jets and deny that they ever were Americans.
Hizbollah is foreign to Syria (and foreign to Lebanon ftm), and Iranian thugs are foreign to Syria, and Russians are foreign to Syria, and all are terrorists, but that’s who’s in Syria propping up Assad.
Two years ago he took their unconditional support as a reason to remain in power, and started beating up school children, then gunning down people in the street, murdering deserters — all the while blaming the body count on foreign interests. Those were his bullets and his soldiers doing that.
His prospects have been dimming and his territory shrinking for over a year. He and his terrorist sponsors may manage to hang on (the longer they do, the fewer we’ll have to kill later), but ultimately it’s not likely to work. Our Russian enemies are all-in, and Assad’s fall will be a massive humiliation, and maybe the beginning of the end for Pootie. I sure hope his assassination or execution is captured on video.
Well said.
The general and his son planned this departure for over six months. They’ve had their asses on the line for the Assad dynasty, and are basically without a country right now, even if that hasn’t sunk in.
I agree with your analysis of those now under Assad.
Now we look at who will take over . Assassins, Muslim Brotherhood, Taliban agents.
It’s too bad someone has to win IMO.
Let them destroy each other and fight for the next 50 years . While they are killing each other they are leaving someone else alone.
both sides suck—I say keep the devil you know
