Alaska batteries are only good against a direct ballistic missile attack.
The Norks have demonstrated ability to orbit a payload, and the ability to manufacture a nuke.
Put the two together and they have the ability to detonate an EMP device over Kansas.
I thought the Norks didn’t have the range to hit us.
Not for a good long while yet.
Their delivery systems are still not very reliable.
Their suspected nuclear devices are still too large to be able to fit on the tip of a missile.
Their technology is still not sophisticated enough to detonate any EMP device over Kansas.
If they continue to develop their technology, these things will be possible, but not for at least a decade, IMO.
That’s one of the reasons the missile defense program targets in four phases: boost, ascent, mid-course, and terminal.
