I don't think "The African Woman" has been staged in this country since around World War I. They couldn't stage it today. The title alone would kill it.

HIs name was Luigi Sacco, and he was from the Pittsburgh area. He had made a splash on a local label a few years earlier with songs that featured him over-dubbing like Neil Sedaka and working his three octave range like Frankie Valli. Now he signed with MGM Records, and this effort was tossed in the trash by the head of the division. But it broke locally and then went national. This week it came in at #8.
