MA Senate candidate (for Kerry’s seat) Ed Markey (D) has his first ad (for primary) running and it immediately shows him as a gun grabber. Starts off with former NRA head Charlton Heston holding up a rifle and doing the “from my cold dead, hands bit”. The general idea is vote for Markey and we’ll take away the guns from those Neanderthals who worship guns and ammo.

>>The 30-second spot opened with footage of the late Charlton Heston, who once served as the group’s spokesman and president.

The ad featured the conclusion of Heston’s 2000 NRA convention speech, in which he belted-out the famous quote: “From my cold, dead hands.” (The clause is a shortened version of the slogan popularized by the NRA: “I’ll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.”)

In the ad, the narrator says the NRA has “been called the most powerful lobby in America, but that didn’t stop Ed Markey.”

The narrator adds that “long before tragedy swept our nation”–highlighting a newspaper article about the Newton elementary school shooting–Markey worked to fight against assault weapons coming from China.

“Now Ed Markey is joining President Obama, fighting for tougher gun laws to make our community safe,” the narrator continued.
