In February, Texas announced that the state, along with the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum (TESCCC,) would enact major changes to the controversial curriculum management system dubbed CSCOPE.

“You parents do not need to know what is being taught. Rick Perry and Grover Norquist have made marvelous improvements in the Texas Education System thru grade 12.”
While it is true that Education operates independent of the governor, the governor can still show some leadership here, and fight this crap. And maybe he has, but if so, I haven’t heard about it.
Rick Perry (or whoever is gov) doesn't choose or have anything to do with the text books used in Texas, either.

He finally dropped it, just before the state legislature was going to kill it, by a VETO-PROOF majority.
What worried us was why he felt so compelled to PUSH this on little Texas girls.
...and by the way, the media never did go after his adviser’s ties to Merck.
