In 1965, ABC ran a special on the popular music scene, and one of the items shown was the recording session for this song. That footage seems to have disappeared, which is unfortunate because its priceless. It shows string players from the Detroit Symphony laying down the instrumental track for this song.
The Temptations had gone through years of hitless travail at Motown, working with different producers and different lead singers. Competition at Motown was brutal, and the group finally got a hit in 64 with The Way You Do the Things You Do with Smokey Robinson as producer and Eddie Kendricks on lead vocals. Smokey wrote a tune that he thought would go better with David Ruffin on lead, and it ended up being their signature song. This is the week it made #1.
The Temptations: My Girl
And so we end one week of music history 48 years ago. See you next week! Bring up the Rockumentary theme!

Sounds like that tornado didn’t have a chance. Doyle’s a monster and Marcia is a hurricane!

Oops, not “Revolution 9” just “Revolution.”
I suspect most here wouldn’t enjoy the actual song by that name, so here’s a different late stage Beatles tune, “Tomorrow Never Knows” set to a vintage psychedelic Beatles cartoon:

Doyle was a monster.
RIP
Marcia was a good natured hoot.
They improvised together for like an hour waiting out the storm
It was a pleasure to hole up with them that night.
The streets were like rivers

The second blizzard in a row where we have not lost power.
Three blizzards ago a neighbor’s tree fell in anticipation of the storm. Turns out that being the first, our little stretch of road got their full attention and the power company rewired a fair distance. That has made all the difference.
The only other reason I can figure we haven’t lost power lately because we bought a generator.
Like the snowblower. We bought a new snowblower last year and that winter we only got 9” of snow for the entire season. :-)

Good to see you are okay.
We have been getting aove freezing for the past three days.
It’s a welcome change from a dreary and cold winter.

Let us know about Alvin. We are all getting older and have few that know who we are.
