In response to questioning by Representative Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) of the House Oversight Committee, representatives from the Department of Education and Department of Transportation admitted that their recent dire warnings about the effects the sequester would have were not based on studies or data. According to deputy secretary of education Anthony Miller, the threat of 40,000 pink slips for teachers was an estimate, but the department stands by this statement as an impact it could have.
The inspector general of the Department of Transportation, Calvin Scovel III, also admitted that there were no data or studies supporting the warning from his department that major airports could experience 90-minute delays, but he maintained that it was still a reasonable estimate.

impact it could have. And purchasing a winning lottery ticket "could have an impact" om my net worth being increased by $100 million. But the odds are against it.
Obama and his evil, lying minions are walking back just about everything they said would happen when the sequester hit. Who will ever believe them again? (Answer: 52 million low-information voters.)

I’m pretty sure we could get by just fine without either of those “Departments”.
After all, we already have the MUTCD, what more could we need?

Calvin Scovel III, also admitted that there were no data or studies supporting the warning from his department that major airports could experience 90-minute delays, but he maintained that it was still a reasonable estimate....this afternoon watched most of a hearing from a couple of weeks ago replayed on C-Span wherein several congressmen including Rep Meadows of North Carolina were all over the FAA administrator about this claim, specifically that the Atlanta airport "could" see delays of ninety minutes or so "depending on the personel available and the weather" Meadows was demanding to know exactly what data were used to come up with this estimate, and of course never got a clear answer - was reminded of a few years back when wife and I were scheduled to fly south out of Philly - we had a slight rain locally, but in New Haven there was a snow storm which held up the plane which we were supposed to take and resulted in a four hour delay "depending on the weather" - these clumsy attempts at scaring the public are so general and hypothetical they really are becoming laughable.....

No matter what the impact, we would ALL be better off if these two departments and the scumbags running them were GONE!
Who cares about the sequester impact...real or imagined!
