They’d better not give in...this is getting good. I’ve cancelled my gaming for the night and resigned the fact I’m not getting to bed anytime soon

It does seem to be ending right now.
Cruz just hit a home run on the point of launching a missile into Osama bin Laden’s apartment in Chicago while the devil slept. Great point.

At 12:33 EST Ted Cruz is telling Turbin Durbin how the cow ate the cabbage.
Sounds like Rand is shutting it down at 12:38.

The fifth longest filibuster in American political history was conducted by U.S. Sen. William Proxmire of Wisconsin, who spoke for 16 hours and 12 minutes to stall debate on an increase of the public debt ceiling in 1981.
Proxmire was concerned about the nation's rising debt level. The bill he wanted to stall action on authorizing a total debt of $1 trillion. link

Wasn’t it Proxmire, WI, who gave out the “Golden Fleece” awards for the biggest boondoggles?

Yes, it WAS Proxmier, WI who exposed the “Golden Fleece” awards for idiocy on spending and, surprisingly, he was a Democrat!!!

Actually the longest fiflibuster was by Sen. Strom Thurmond in 1957 —a little over 24 hours.

(Give me back my conservative vote; then find me a real conservative to vote for)
- ...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said. [Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften [immigration, gay marriage] stance]
- One day after announcing on his radio show that he is "truly considering" running in 2014 for the U.S. Senate seat now held by New Jersey's Frank Lautenberg, Rivera amped up his message today in a television interview and a column on the Fox News Latino website... a moderate Republican who is fiscally conservative but also supports gay marriage and Roe v. Wade... [Geraldo Rivera declares himself a 'moderate Republican' as he eyes U.S. Senate run]
