It's called simple history. Generalizations are the norm when talking about historical groups. It says nothing about what some individuals may have done. I doubt this Jewish author considers his work a "half-truth" when he says,
"According to surviving records, Jews helped the Arabs in many places. From Syria to Spain, they opened city gates to the besieging armies; and in Spain, they often garrisoned the captured cities to enable the Muslims to sweep on to further conquests. " (Lucien Gubbay -The Jews of Arabia)

I would start with the Tertio Millennio Adveniente and then read then-Cardinal Ratiznger’s follow up letters which were much nitter-and-gritter and called out the “Inquisition Deniers” as essentially schismatics and false-apologetics who bring shame upon Christ’s Church.

To be blunt, we Christians screwed up majorly. Worse, we did it in the name of Christ’s Church.

Was it a long time ago? Yep. Were there mixed reasons for the things we did? Yep.

Does Christ expect us to rise above mixed reasons and live to a higher standard? Yep.
