Those were the “assault” rifles of the day. Pretty much went out of style by the Civil War. According to one Civil War documentary, a Southerner was heard to say, “Those damn Yankees and their repeating rifles. Load once on Sunday and shoot all week.”
Dang, gotta go. I’ll check back later. Why do I have a social commitment right when you start a great thread?
I hope America will return to the Constitutional perspectives. In regards to things like creww served weapons like machine guns and cannon, the first cannon used by the Continental Army were private cannon, owned by citizens.
in that light, how can BATF restrict my ownership of cannon, machine guns, etc.
Oh, lest I forget, America’s first warships were armed commercial ships. By that view, were Bill Gates desirous of buying a nuclear carrier group (he can afford one), he should be able to so do.
I’d bet that would cause some hyperventilation at BATF!
In closing, who would you trust with a carrier group, Gates or Obama?
;-)
I still adhere to that philosophy.
