The Washington Post's Bob Woodward ripped into President Barack Obama on "Morning Joe" today, saying he's exhibiting a "kind of madness I haven't seen in a long time" for a decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf because of budget concerns.
"Can you imagine Ronald Reagan sitting there and saying, 'Oh, by the way, I can't do this because of some budget document?'" Woodward said.
"Or George W. Bush saying, 'You know, I'm not going to invade Iraq because I can't get the aircraft carriers I need?'" Or even Bill Clinton saying, 'You know, I'm not going to attack Saddam Hussein's intelligence headquarters,' ... because of some budget document?"
The Defense Department said in early February that it would not deploy the U.S.S. Harry Truman to the Persian Gulf, citing budget concerns relating to the looming cuts known as the sequester.
"Under the Constitution, the President is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the President going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement. 'I cant do what I need to do to protect the country,'" Woodward said. "Thats a kind of madness that I haven't seen in a long time," he said.
Woodward's harsh criticism came after he stirred controversy last weekend by calling out Obama for what he said was "moving the goal posts" on the sequester by requesting that revenue be part of a deal to avert it.

If Obama ordered a carrier skuttled to save money, I wonder if the Navy would do it. The admirals probably would go along.
One more display of Madness?
Low-life grifters
And Nixon created our beloved EPA. Thanks, Dick!
I agree.
Today’s media elites would do a better blacklist job on a journalist who strayed from the reservation quicker than McCarthy ever could/did. The alphabet media journalists tow the Pravda line and are never independent.
Budget concerns? WHAT budget? We haven’t had a budget since this d—khead took over the country four years ago!
I think Obomas hate for man kind has driven him insane. I think he actually believes he's a divine being of some kind, and those who don't bow down and worship him are the "real" problem. I think he's friggen nuts.
He has no idea he's nothing but a social parasite like the rest his base. He's fed off the American teat all his life. He's always been a welfare slug. A french fry maker at McDonalds deserves more honor and respect.
Drive by any welfare complex, and you'll see people like the Obomas everywhere. Each one of them lusting after someone elses pay checks and calling their legalized theft some kind of an "entitlement".
It is calculated; it is insidious; and it is intentional.
It may be Woodward is looking down the road when ALL rap-port-ers and writers will be replaced by State run robotic type ‘readers’ sans opinions or inflections.
Watch out for that directed "accidental" drone strike, Bob. You're talking like an anti-oboma "terrorist."
It's not madness. It is a fatalistic combination of inefficacy and immaturity, masked by an overt display of narcissism.
But there are millions of folks in the middle who will listen to Woodward and be surprised that WaPo is willing to take on the President.
This might even embolden some in Congress to fight harder against issues Obama is pushing.
It's happening now. The left is ditching the print media for the Internet and oboma phones. All orders and propaganda will be fed directly to the base without the media getting in the way.
All the socialists/communist tyrants have done this. The useful idiots are always the first to be eliminated once the monsters get enough power to render them unnecessary.
How about doing some real investigative journalism and find out who this guy really is.
When they start, individually, to tune into the facts, they will have an obvious reaction. It’ll be a paradigm shift and they’ll be like a fighter pilot who cruises along in the clouds and comes out thinking he was upside down but he’s right side up.
He gets a visual on the horizon and it’s up, not down where it was supposed to be.
He has to take a moment to readjust his mind after his bearings.
Denial of the truth is impossible. It’s harsh. But when the see things as they truly are with this crowd, and realize their complicity in it, it’ll be stunning.
Not that this is what’s going on with Woodward, necessarily. It might be a beginning, and it might not bA. He is an intelligent person, miguided though.
Anyway, they’ll need, if not a friendly camp to jump into, a non hostile one. Not to say blind trust for the likes of Woodward is ever a good idea.
Some of them will join. That’s probaly going to happen.
They’ll have to start facing the results of all this they’ve demanded. They have to stop whining and campaigning. There are not enough addictive substances to fog the truth indefinitely.
Sorry, your request cannot be fulfilled at this time. Currently all available MSM assets are working on the background of Dr. Ben Carson.
Why do I get the feeling Bob Woodward’s calling up the mental ghost of Nixon for this comparison... (cone on guys - Clinton was tacky but Nixon was nuts... )
It is wishful thinking to believe that Woodward will truly turn on Obama.
Woodward's heart is hard-core left. He will only go so far in speaking the "truth" about Obama.
