Why Did McCain Rescue Hagel?
The American Spectator ^ | 2/17/13 | Aaron Goldstein

Posted on 02/17/2013 11:51:36 AM PST by Nachum

Why on earth did John McCain just rescue Chuck Hagel’s nomination? Why did he go on Meet the Press this morning to say that Chuck Hagel was going to get confirmed as Secretary of Defense? McCain argued that Hagel had the votes to be confirmed and that he didn’t want the process to be delayed further. But if that is the case then why did Bob Woodward go on Fox News yesterday to say that Democratic Senators were calling the White House to ask when Hagel was withdrawing? Now I doubt Woodward would have dropped that tidbit if there wasn’t sufficient discord

McCain is old school, where he would never defeat a fellow Senator. It is not about the issues or right or wrong decisions, but about the Senate brotherhood. Same reason he stabs his party in the back repeatedly. Good policy doesn’t matter, it is getting ‘something’ done.

And from McCain’s lapdog:

Lindsay Graham and Hagel Make Nice (For Now)
By Connor Simpson | The Atlantic Wire – 4 mins 56 secs ago

“Lindsay Graham and Chuck Hagel seem to have made nice for the time being. Graham said on Fox News Sunday this morning that Hagel wrote him a letter denying ever connecting the State Department to the Israeli Foreign Minister’s office. It was alleged that Hagel made the implication that the Department was merely an extension of the Israeli office while speaking at Rutgers University in 2007. It was a serious point of contention during Hagel’s marathon confirmation session with the Senate a few weeks ago. “He did not recall saying that,” Graham said on Sunday. “He disavows saying that. [...] If that’s true, that would end that matter.” Graham even implied he might be ready to let the confirmation go forward... unless something new comes up.” snip.......

I do not understand the premise.
Every single Republican that rattled cages and made noise, said they were going to confirm him regardless.
This is not new or unexpected.

When the rulers want something one can bet the money will flow. This is not my humble opinion, instead it is the nature of the beast.

He's John McCain. This is what he does. Stab Republicans in the back, then go on TV, play the statesman and soak up the warm glow of approval from the leftists that infest the news media. He's John McCain and this is what he does.

John McCain like most politicians will keep the fires of hell very, very warm, that’s why he will confirm Hagel, politicians don’t give a damn about their constituents, it’s all about them, you don’t go to Washington D.C. for the salary, they’ve all sold their souls for the wealth and power of this world, not the next.

Because McCain is a plant. Like all plants, it is required that sometimes he exhibit behavior that makes you think he actually is what he says he is, and isn’t a plant. This is calculated. But when the time comes for something important to take place, he is called upon to do what he is there to do - advance the agenda of the left.

OK, maybe this is tinfoil hat stuff, but his behavior too often makes this scenario plausible.

Bingo. McCain is an especially extreme case of this. One moment he appears to have some backbone, the next he is striving for a puff-piece in the NY Times. You would think that all those years in a NV POW camp made him impervious to criticism, but I suppose not. Either that, or someone has some massive dirt on him.

McCain was one plane short of Becoming an Ace for the North Vietnamese.

If he hadn’t have become a Prisoner of War there is no telling how many planes he would have crashed.

Close to the bottom of his class in Annapolis and that probably because his dad was an Admiral.

McCain is almost as dangerous to America as Kerry and Obama.
