Why didn't they solve this during the "Fiscal Cliff" negotiations? Obama had agreed to an adjustement in the Cost of Living increase for Social Security, and the Republicans gave away the tax increase for incomes over $450K, raised the SS payroll tax on everybody, and agreed to Billions for an unemployment "benefits" extension (again).

They dealt with taxes, and only delayed the Sequestration cuts, and we are right back into "crisis" mode again. Boehner walked away from the negotiations, pursued this ill advised "Plan B" that he couldn't even get Republicans to support, and then everyone just gave up.

I don't know what these politicos mean by that. How does the Pentagon manage what is now says is a 13% across the board meat ax to its budget 1/2 way through the fiscal year, and they cannot touch military pay, and they cannot change most procurement contracts?
I'll tell you how. They slash Operations and Maintenance to the bone.

BOTH sides are making this as painful as possible. Obama is a Marxist Communist, and the Republicans have abandoned the military and are now chanting "Burn it All Down!" so that they can be "me too!" defenders of the welfare state. Glad the GOP is now for Amnesty that will cost us Billions more.
I don’t know what to think as far as defense spending cuts, SkyPilot. Some say defense is way too bloated; that there are areas where waste can be eliminated. I guess that’s where Paul is saying it doesn’t worry him too much. The problem may be with WHO is determining where waste is and where the cuts will be.
obama et al deciding that we can not have two carriers in the Persian Gulf is pure manipulation of our military readiness in the region for politics. Why congressional leaders aren’t screaming about the fact that he is playing politics with our security is beyond me. I guess the ruling class has grown accustomed to obama’s willingness to put the US at risk to get his way and see it as the same ol’, same ol’.
