Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) said Wednesday he was unimpressed by efforts from fellow House Republicans to lay blame for the sequester on President Obama, calling the moves "disingenuous."
"I think it's a mistake on the part of Republicans to try to pin the sequester on Obama," Amash told Buzzfeed. "It's totally disingenuous. The debt ceiling deal in 2011 was agreed to by Republicans and Democrats, and regardless of who came up with the sequester, they all voted for it. So, you can't vote for something and, with a straight face, go blame the other guy for its existence in law."
Last week, Republicans on Capitol Hill switched their Facebook and Twitter avatars to a passage from Bob Woodward's recent book that reports the sequester was first proposed by the White House. Additionally, they sent messages critical of the president and sequester using the Twitter hashtag #Obamaquester. It was part of an effort to lay blame at the feet of President Obama for the $85 billion in across-the-board cuts set to take effect on March 1.

He also is a Ron Paul supporter and Right to Life condemns him for voting "present" on de-funding Planned Parenthood. They rate him the 7th worst House member on pro-life issues.
He's fooling conservatives with his "maverick" routine. In reality, he's a mixed up dude.
Did you look at the reasons for his votes? It’s certainly not because he’s liberal. He is pro-life and voted against sex selective abortion ban because it wasn’t even a proposal that would stop abortions and you need to look at his rationale for voting no on the PP defunding. Come on, you have to look below the surface on these things.
And there's "something beneath the surface" for his reasons for saying McCain was racist for his statement against Ahmanenijad? Yes, Amash is a strange person who prides himself on being a "maverick". Many libertarians are this way.
Amash is a really revolting RINO, I think completely backed by the soap brothers’ fortune. Thanks SkyPilot.
/bingo
There are no excuses for Amash’s votes, despite the best efforts of the Apaulogists.
Amash is conservative when it is safe to be so. He likes to pad his maverick independent creds by voting present and voting against the GOP whenever the vote is not close.
He is Conservative on guns but like you said, when it comes to islam, he works hard to come up with excuses to not be anti islam. I asked him about banning the berkha like it has been recently done in France and he went extremely on the offense about against that idea.
He likes to court the Tea Party, in fact was the only politician in Grand Rapids to speak at the first Tea Party meeting there.
IN this case I believe its right what he says.....The Gop voted for this crap and now they want to blame odumbi. NOW, Rand Paul, is much better. Maybe Amash needs a Challenger in Grand Rapids.
Kind of like the War in Iraq, the one Hillary Clinton and a whole bunch of Democrat Politicians Voted for.
I remember the “shared” blame coming from the Democrats on that one./s
