I’m wondering just what the incompetents plans were.
He failed at stealing a boat [fine training he had, we were assured he was a master ninja], broke a pickup truck, burned it and made a beacon out of it, stole a vehicle that was out of gas, and crashed another one.

The only upshot is that he’s dead and now Torrrence PD and LAPD can stop shooting up pickup trucks and we have information on how to drive law enforcement bonkers.

Only thing missing was Yakkety Sax playing in the background.

I think the hostages were held for less than an hour. There is a UK press story where they are interviewed and describe their experience.
