What kind of executions have those being executed armed and shooting at the executioner?

Here is a valid question then. If a cop stops you in the street, draws his weapon and points at your head, do you have a legal right to do the same to defend yourself?

The answer "No" means that you are state property, and every state warden can execute you for any reason or for no reason. Hardly the land of the free; more like the land of the cattle.

The answer "Yes" means that the cop who drew upon you can now scream into his radio that he is under attack, and his buddies will then empty their weapons into you (or near you, as their accuracy permits.)

The answer "Yes" also creates the situation that you were asking about.

You used to be able to escape their reach in the beginning of the Republic. Now, they pursue you to the death like the very Furies, anywhere in the land. There are no sanctuaries any more.
