Manchin had a prior record in elective office, at least as governor, that was pro Second Amendment. IIRC, he ran against a GOP businessman with no prior experience in elective office.
It's your state. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the GOP businessman failed to return the NRA's questionnaire. I don't know, but that has happened in many other places. They work hard to be the stupid party.
John Raese returned the NRA questionnaire, and received an "A*" rating ... and the back of Chris Cox's hand. He deserved better, and Manchin did not deserve to be so highly praised.
Yes, GOP has a deserved rep as the Stupid Party, but this is not an example of it. This is an example of perfidy from a national political organization.
