Large scale long term reforms on spending and entitlements are going to end up having to have Dem votes as well as GOP support.

This is why Obama is running from the sequester. He can demogogue Boehner (effectively) when it's only the GOP who proposes responsible legislation. But this one passed with bipartisan support.
