From the article: The LAPD admits the predawn Thursday shooting was a case of mistaken identity that unfolded while police were guarding the Torrance home of someone named in a manifesto that ex-cop Dorner posted online about his twisted plans to avenge his firing.
It was LAPD guarding a home in Torrance.
I am surprised that they could overreact this badly.
You shouldn't be.
Thanks for clarifying. There was also a situation where the Torrance police shot at some car, thinking it was Dorner, but they didn’t hit anything, I guess. So, now I’m clear on which event was which.
There’s a house near my son’s school that had cops in front of it all day, guarding it. He was told at school that it is the home of an LAPD officer. Maybe it was one of the people named in the manifesto. I don’t know. But it doesn’t seem like it was necessary to have three cop cars taking up space all day, with cops standing around in the driveway, looking tough, yet bored.
