The official position of the medical profession is that "sex reassignment" (in certain cases and not just on a whim) is a medically necessary life saving operation.

Under the circumstances, don't blame Brown University for having insurance covering it. The problem is far deeper than one liberal college and their health coverage.

Many of us who have major medical group coverage are implicitly covered for "sex reassignment" if a physician deems it medically necessary.
