Here the snow shuts the road first, than the gates close once the road is impassable.
The famous one are ,the Snake pass and the Wood-head pass, both in the Peoples republic of Yorkshire.

UGH. Sounds sickening! I would imagine, most businesses in downtown Boston, let employees go home early today, knowing the roads would close to cars. Watching Faux now, I see that NYC traffic out of Manhattan is moving along quite nicely.

All state workers were let off at noon, I believe. Logan airport’s last flight was to depart at 3:00, and I’m guessing that most if not all companies let their employees leave no later than 3:00, if not hours earlier.
