Dear FReepers,

We need your help to get this FReepathon moving again. Now into the second month of the fundraiser and we're catching up, but still lagging more than 10% behind the pace. We actually have about the same number donations that we had at this point last quarter, but we're averaging about five dollars less per donation. This is a direct result of the harm Obama's Marxist policies are inflicting on the economy. Hopefully it'll get going strong again so we can complete our fundraiser in the next few weeks.

Free Republic stands for God and Country!! We defend Life, Family, Constitution, Liberty!! And we defend our God-given, constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms!! TO THE HILT!!

FR is funded solely by contributions made by like-minded liberty loving people who enjoy and use it.

We are beholden to no political party. No outsiders, no sugar daddies, no advertisers, no corporate string pullers. No government grants and no tax subsidies. Just you and me, baby and we need each other.

We are self-funded, fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak plainly in the defense of liberty.

But we cannot do it without your continuing support.

If you have not yet made your donation this quarter, today would be an excellent day to do so.

Every donation counts no matter how big or small. If you can donate $5, $10, $20 or more, it would be greatly appreciated.

Your loyal support makes Free Republic possible and your continuing participation makes FR the leading INDEPENDENT, pro-life, pro-family, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-gun, grassroots conservative forum on the Net!!

And we're going to need FR now more than ever to combat the current crop of Marxists, fascists and progressives who have infested our government and public institutions and who are dead set on destroying the final remnants of our cherished constitution and our precious God-given Liberty!!

Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. --Ronald Reagan

And our generation will not be the one that sees freedom extinguished in America.

NOT ON MY WATCH!!

Never surrender!! Never retreat!! Never give up your guns!!

Click the link above to donate via secure server or by mail to: Free Republic, LLC - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794

Monthly Challenge:

Make it a monthly if you can. We currently have some very generous FReeper sponsors contributing an extra ten dollars for each new monthly signed up, so here's a chance to get a little extra bang for your buck!!

I_be_tc's $100 challenge:

FReeper I_be_tc donated $100.00 last week and challenged 300 others to match. Sixty-eight FReepers have met the $100.00 challenge so far. If 300 FReepers would follow through, this FReepathon would end quickly!! Woo hoo!! Thank you very much, I_be_tc!!

Thank you all very much!!

Your loyal support is greatly appreciated!!

God bless you and God bless America!!

Have never in my 66 years seen more than 2 inches of snow, that was 10-12 years ago.

I grew up in Toledo, Ohio. We had lake affect snow all the time. We walked to school in it. In the 50’s we wore dresses so we just pulled on snow pants under our dresses for the walk. I didn’t think anything of it until I got older and the cold started to hurt.

I hope you can keep your power to stay warm. Do you have a way to log on if you lose power?

The wind is picking up. The bulk of snow hits tonight.

We are approaching the worst of this storm now. Hang in there, DJ. :)

You too, Trish.

Hubby charged the battery on his laptop and APC battery backups in case we lose power. We can be on long enough to let everyone know. I have a cord phone too.

I hear you. It’s so cold in our bedroom that when Mr T and the pups get up in the morning, I start shivering. We’re fortunate to have an Icelandic wool throw that keeps me from cramping up.

Praying that the storm will be much less intense than predicted.

I love the big horseshoe drive but it means two ends to get plowed in. That means hand shoveling.

My DiL got flannel sheets for us as a Christmas gift. One of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten.

Some of the old timers, when I was a kid, swear they had nearly 2 feet down here when they were young.
Can't even imagine down here with 2 feet, must have been around 1910 or so.

I really hate it when you just finish shoveling and they plow you back in.
I feel like shaking my fist at them when that happens.

Don't do it!
It'll just give the plow drivers something to laugh at :)

**************************

No. If we lose power we are alone. I'm just glad that we have a wood burning fireplace, and lots of batteries.

The wind is howling, and the snow is horizontal. As long as trees don't come down on our house or cars we will be all right.

A search shows some historic snow in Louisiana and Mississippi.
