Dear FReepers,
We need your help to get this FReepathon moving again. Now into the second month of the fundraiser and we're catching up, but still lagging more than 10% behind the pace. We actually have about the same number donations that we had at this point last quarter, but we're averaging about five dollars less per donation. This is a direct result of the harm Obama's Marxist policies are inflicting on the economy. Hopefully it'll get going strong again so we can complete our fundraiser in the next few weeks.
Free Republic stands for God and Country!! We defend Life, Family, Constitution, Liberty!! And we defend our God-given, constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms!! TO THE HILT!!
FR is funded solely by contributions made by like-minded liberty loving people who enjoy and use it.
We are beholden to no political party. No outsiders, no sugar daddies, no advertisers, no corporate string pullers. No government grants and no tax subsidies. Just you and me, baby and we need each other.
We are self-funded, fiercely independent and enjoy our freedom to speak plainly in the defense of liberty.
But we cannot do it without your continuing support.
If you have not yet made your donation this quarter, today would be an excellent day to do so.
Every donation counts no matter how big or small. If you can donate $5, $10, $20 or more, it would be greatly appreciated.
Your loyal support makes Free Republic possible and your continuing participation makes FR the leading INDEPENDENT, pro-life, pro-family, pro-small government, pro-defense, pro-gun, grassroots conservative forum on the Net!!
And we're going to need FR now more than ever to combat the current crop of Marxists, fascists and progressives who have infested our government and public institutions and who are dead set on destroying the final remnants of our cherished constitution and our precious God-given Liberty!!
Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction. --Ronald Reagan
And our generation will not be the one that sees freedom extinguished in America.
NOT ON MY WATCH!!
Never surrender!! Never retreat!! Never give up your guns!!
Click the link above to donate via secure server or by mail to: Free Republic, LLC - PO Box 9771 - Fresno, CA 93794
Monthly Challenge:
Make it a monthly if you can. We currently have some very generous FReeper sponsors contributing an extra ten dollars for each new monthly signed up, so here's a chance to get a little extra bang for your buck!!
I_be_tc's $100 challenge:
FReeper I_be_tc donated $100.00 last week and challenged 300 others to match. Sixty-eight FReepers have met the $100.00 challenge so far. If 300 FReepers would follow through, this FReepathon would end quickly!! Woo hoo!! Thank you very much, I_be_tc!!
Thank you all very much!!
Your loyal support is greatly appreciated!!
God bless you and God bless America!!

What a great photo! I remember back in the late 80’s or early 90’s (I can’t really recall) having snow piled up in parking lots that was 20 to 30 feet high and around our driveway and front walk that was 10 feet high. Walking down the sidewalk and out to the street or out to our cars was like walking down a white hallway. Driving was extremely dangerous because it was impossible to see around corners.

I hear you. We had two storms where trees came down on our old house. In the second storm, a tree hit the house and then came down on my jeep. Trees are beautiful, but they can be very destructive and dangerous when subjected to high winds and/or heavy snow. We’d like to take down some of the trees that are encroaching on our house, but it’s expensive.

I remember! Burlington Mall plowers made “Mall Mountain.” It must’ve been over 20 feet and theyleft a yellow plow up top.

We’ve taken four or five trees down here in our “new” house. Many more have simply fallen. One of the reasons that I liked this property was that the trees weren’t overhanging the house. A lot has changed in the past ten years.

Wasn’t it amazing? Huge areas of the parking lots of the malls were inaccessible, and in the spring it took weeks and weeks for them to melt. Those were the days. I remember in the mid-90’s the thermometer on a tree next to our deck read -22 degrees. Thank goodness that my car didn’t die on the way to work. I saw many abandoned cars along the roadside that morning.

This tree is a hemlock and it’s right at the corner of the house. If it comes down it’s going to damage the foundation at the very least. It needs to come out but the landlord can’t afford it and the old guys (landlord and Hubby) can’t do it.

It's a beautiful tree, but according to Wikipedia:
"Old trees are commonly attacked by various fungal disease and decay species, notably Heterobasidion annosum and Armillaria species, which rot the heartwood and eventually leave the tree liable to windthrow, and Rhizina undulata, which may kill groups of trees following minor grass fires that activate growth of the Rhizina spores.[9]"
We have had some serious problems in this state from the wooly adelgid, which is a hideous parasite of the hemlock.
