Witnesses told the Evening Standard that teenager’s mother ran up to the police cordon as paramedics tried to save him.

Steve Russell, 46, a project manager, He said: “She was screaming with grief and shouting her son’s name but they wouldn’t let her through.”

I know people think that this is unbelieveably cruel but it the right thing to do.

Allowing the mother to be with her dying son would distract or get in the way of the EMTs doing their job trying to save his life.

There are also way too many instances where distraught relatives assault EMTs who are trying to save a life.

Yup. Problem is, you are making a factual point that relates to actually increasing the chance of saving someone’s life. If that doesn’t happen, though, and the victim dies, people are left with the emotional response.

IOW, you are (correctly) discussing reality, while emotion is far more important to far too many people. Sigh.
