I’m not a PDS’er, but I am prone now to be a little cautious with Sarah, and I encourage others to do the same, and not elevate her to positions of blind trust that she hasn’t earned.

I, and a lot of others of like mind, planned to support her in the last primary. As a result, we didn’t push similar candidates to jump in, since Sarah was our choice, and we didn’t want to split our vote. She kept us hanging, well past the point we thought she could credibly pull out, and then she pulled out, leaving us with a lot of establishment politicians, but no real, honest, Tea Party, Socially Conservative candidate who could win.

Maybe she had a good reason for that. But had she just said early on that she wasn’t running, I suspect someone else might have jumped in to offer her supporters the kind of option they wanted, touting the issue positions she would have touted, and asking for support, based on their honesty and integrity compared to the rest of the line up. Maybe we’d be looking a President West right now.

I really felt screwed, to put it bluntly, by somebody who appeared to have played the system, without express concern for the movement, or her supporters. I don’t demand much, just be honest with me. If you see me supporting you, and closing other doors, when you don’t intend to let my support count, then let me know. With today’s social media and virality, who knows if somebody would have started a “draft candidate X” page, and it would have taken off and gotten us a real alternative to Mitt, who might actually have beaten Obama.

Funny thing is, even all that wasn’t as irritating as reading all the castigations of her here, and really feeling there was no way to counter them. Everybody who had told us she was just playing us, came out to dance on the grave of her candidacy, and tell us what asses we were to have ever trusted her. And there wasn’t a whole lot to say in return. She had played us. She never inteded to run, it was an attention whoring at our expense and worse, at the movement’s expense, and we were wrong all along, and those pissants were right. It was very vexing, and put me off getting behind her ever again.

Before Sarah, I would have said, as a general rule, don’t trust in anyone you see on TV to be as good as you think they are. Then I thought Sarah looked like she might be the exception, and now I am back to saying, if they are on TV, they have probably sold their soul to the machine to some degree, and any wise person will be cautious with them.

I don’t blame her, she needs to be loyal to her family first, and make them money. But I will caution anyone else to be at least a little wary when she is appealing for anything tangible, like money or political support. Personally, the only one I’d begin to trust now as an effective leader is Allen West.

Unlike Sarah, West hasn’t left me unable to defend him on FR - yet.

My 2c.
