Out at Ft Irwin, the crows decimate the desert torise population by pecking holes in their shells. We called them "soul chickens" and loved to go plinking for them.

Don’t try to tell that to a Sierra Clubber! Their club has pushed to close the Mojave Desert to us dirt bike riders because they blame us for the decimation of the tortoises. That is why there is no Barstow to Vegas race anymore. Up in the Ridgecrest area it’s the ravens that are doing the damage. The crows stay in town and the ravens are mostly out farther.
