I have been explaining the Hispanic Identity Thing to Freepers for years!

In Hispanic cultures, your name is no simple matter. José García y Lopez marries María Gomez y Gonzalez. She then becomes María Gomez de García ... for starters.

Down at the welfare office, her name becomes De García on one card. Gomez, on another card, García (without the "DE" on another card. José goes by Gomez and Lopez, but he was very fond of his grandfather Salcedo, so he can be known as Gomez de Salcedo. And so on. It can be quite endless, given that most Hispanics have a couple or three first names!

Every "identity" has ID, social security cards, DLs, even a passport. there exist addresses and bank accounts that receive MILLIONS in SS benefits to the different identities of individual multiple SS card holders.
