Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate the opportunity to hear from you.
In spite of the high volume of mail I receive daily, I look forward to reviewing your correspondence and providing a personal response as soon as possible.
As we continue our work in the 113th Congress, I look forward to supporting our troops in the War on Terror, repairing our economy and creating jobs, strengthening Social Security, lowering the tax burden on American families, and making the federal government more accountable and efficient.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further assistance to you or your family, and if you need immediate assistance, please call my office at 202-224-5972. If your correspondence pertains to a scheduling request, please fax your request to (202) 224-3808.
Sincerely,
Lindsey Graham

I always get one of these automated responses before I get a response on the issue. YMMV
At least one person gets it. This is an acknowledgement of receipt, not a substantive response.
You know, I have no brief for Sen. Graham; he is not a conservative and does not represent most of the citizens of South Carolina. But, contrary to many Freepers' postings, I do not believe the man is a queer. Think about it: he is in his 50s and if he were homosexual, there would be some evidence to this effect (one cannot keep that sexual orientation under wraps for long; it expresses itself). I have not seen any.
If there is no personal response after a month then there is an issue. One of my senators does respond the other one does not. My congressman always has through at least three seat changes. All of them have the auto-respond acknowledgment feature.
Look at his priorities:
1). Imperialism
2). Economic growth, which could mean anything
3). Entitlement/wealth redistribution protection
4). Tax cuts
5). Government accountability/efficiency
That seems about right. Notice, though, no spending cuts or debt reduction.
I agree and when he wants to be tough he can really be tough soft voice or not. On Benghazi he appears to be very angry and he took substantive action. I hope he doesn’t let go of that and I don’t think he will. On gun control he stepped right up and said “I own one of those “assault weapons.”” I’d like to see more GOPe jellyfish do that.
He would care about Benghazi, yeah, but probably only to proclaim we should have invaded with ground troops, set up a “democracy,” so that we could be fighting insurgents now instead of our embassy being attacked once.
I’ve never heard him say anything like that.
"Dear Mr. xxxxxxx:
Thank you for writing about gun control.
Laws that aim to restrict or eliminate the ownership of firearms are often justified by arguing that we need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals. The problem is criminals and madmen don't obey them; only honest citizens do.
Gun control laws end up producing a society in which decent people are helpless and defenseless and a gunman can kill scores of people because nobody is there to stop him.
It may be prudent for Congress to consider proposals to ensure that individuals purchasing weapons are, in fact, law-abiding citizens and competent to own a weapon. It may also be appropriate for states and localities to consider requiring licensing for gun owners who wish to carry their weapons in public.
However, such measures will not earn my support if they infringe on the inalienable right of individuals to own and defend themselves with a firearm.
You will find a copy of my speech in which I outline my views on this subject here .
Thank you again for writing.
Sincerely,
Tom (McClintock)
I have to say that I am happy with the response and thanked him for it. I also read his speech from '91 and was impressed with it, as well.(picked up a tagline from it, too!!)
I picked a good part of the State of California to live in though I pray things change before the Cultural Marxists totally destroy what should be the best state in the Union to live!!
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
This is the oath of office all members of Congress have taken.
I do request that you uphold that oath against any infringement on the second amendment on which you are asked to vote.
Senator Dianne Feinstein & Vice President Joe Biden (among others) apparently did not take or do not understand the words in the oath they had taken but I know we can count on you to honor your oath of office.
Contrary to what the media and many in Government would have the populace believe, the 2nd amendment was not a right granted by the Government, but a unalienable God Given right each person has from birth.
And it is NOT about hunting!
Murder is horrific & tragic & mass murder is even worse.; But 370 million Americans (of which a couple hundred million law abiding citizens own guns) have never & will never shoot anyone.
Protect & Defend the Constitution! Sincerely,
This is his response.
Thank you for contacting me about policy proposals that seek to reduce gun violence in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown.
I am a hunter and have always owned guns, and I support the Second Amendment.
But assault weapons such as AK 47s are intended for killing, not hunting.
Solutions for reducing gun violence must address many areas, from protecting law enforcement and keeping weapons out of the hands of criminals, to school safety, access to mental health services, and confronting a culture that sometimes glorifies violence.
I support reinstating the assault weapons ban and restoring the 10-round limit for ammunition magazines. And, I support universal background checks so that we can know if person buying a weapon has a criminal record.
I appreciate hearing your views on this very important issue, and I will keep them in mind. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future.
Sincerely, Bill Nelson
I’ve never heard a lib, or one with anything to lose, advocate total gun confiscation or 100% nationalized healthcare, either. But that doesn’t stop us from speculating that lots of them are thinking it.
Martin I saw your Linda ping to me in My Comments. Before I clicked to respond I thought, "This will either be: A. An email that has nothing to do with the sender's concern, or B: An email blowing off the sender."
Guess I made a lucky guess, Linda's response is both.
At the Aiken County Tea Party meeting last Monday night we had a fairly spirited discussion about who could primary Linda next year. It won't be easy. She has a considerable war chest.
Lame.
Do sarcasm or embellishment not exist in your world?
I would like to use part of this...
He forgot to mention that he looks forward to voting for complete amnesty for 12 million illegals.
Feel free to. Hope you get a better reply than I got from Bill Nelson.
Sorry, it proves nothing! It is no more than a pro-forma email response. But if it makes you feel better, by all means, keep those cards and letters flowing! I still maintain that Congress could care less what we want or think.
He is as bought off as McCain or Reid.
What we need to do is fill Obama’s inbox with youtube videos of Reagan’s best speeches on conservatism. If we do it fast enough we may be able to get 3+ years of conservative moves from this White House before we take it back in 2016.
I too am a Thomas Sowell fan. I wish that there were more like him!
