Republicans prepare for a comeback: We cant come off as a bunch of angry white men

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Republican National Committee members gathered here to re-elect Chairman Reince Priebus for a second term. But by week's end, that vote seemed secondary to the question of the party's long term survival.
After three months of denial, anger, despair and depression over the results of a bruising national election that gave Democrats an edge in Congress and kept President Barack Obama in the White House, Republicans know they must adapt if they are to move forward.
They acknowledge that it's time for a serious gut check. (Or as Haley Barbour put it in November, a "proctology exam.")
Whatever bodily metaphor you choose, the fact remains that the election so jolted and shocked the party that it is taking real steps to change.
And change they will! As soon as they figure out how.
While Republicans in Virginia and other battleground states launched an effort this week to alter electoral college rules so that votes are doled out proportionately--which would likely give the GOP at least a short term edge--GOP leaders here discussed their party's own shortcomings and sought areas of internal improvement.
Almost every conversation in the bar of the Charlotte Westin Hotel this week involved a discussion about what the party must do to win the next elections. Floating through the air is a desire to re-capture glorious days of the past, a challenge made difficult by a country that refuses to stand still. Demographics are changing, minorities are growing in political influence and views on social issues like gay marriage are drifting rapidly leftward. Something's got to give.

And they ran an old dull RINO against this tall charismatic black man who represented the liberal lifestyle. After that they ran yet ANOTHER moderate RINO who didn’t represent the Republicans and lost AGAIN! Republicans don’t understand how conservatism works, apparently.
“I look forward to 2016, when the GOP really learns their lesson and shows that they’re really ready to fight when they dig up Captain Kangaroo to run against Jay-Z” - Alfanzo
Why is being white bad?
Isn’t that racist?
Are they really though? I mean wasn't it the GOP that introduced and pushed forward the Patriot Act? Wasn't it the GOP that started the bailouts with "saving" the airlines after 11 Sep?
The dems are the party of the elites, the anal retentive, and the government. They just need to start making that clear day after day.
Hm, the Republican party has shown, by its actions, that they too are a party of elites. Don't you remember the retro-active primary rules-change to deprive Ron Paul's supporters of delegates and hand them to Romney? Or the "Teleprompter/Vote incident" where the 'results' of the vote were on the teleprompter before the vote was finished?
Time to say, if you want to run your own life, stop voting for people who want to run it for you.
But when was the last time the Republicans pushed for the dissolution of any government agency? Isn't it by the regulationd (formed by the burearchy) that the government intrudes?
We need a new, credible opposition party to counter the socialist democrat party. CFR members need not apply.
-— Well then use black and women Repubs to state your case, but for damn sure, dont give up on the angry part! Get in the medias face and tell them what you think of them as the propaganda arm of the DNC, and do it in a unifying manner (use the same buzzwords and catch-phrases and to hell with the media trying to call you on it). Do NOT be afraid of the media (they think you are anyway). Take the fight straight to them. Do NOT back down! -—
Well said. This has to be job one, because if we don’t get our message out, we don’t exist.
I accept we lost, and I’m not blaming fraud one bit. I’m simply stating the people of this country have changed.
I now absolutely hate the Bush/Rove Republican Party. It is a traitorous group and I’m not wasting any more time on it.
As am I, and I intend to remain angry.
People need to learn that if you want to pick a fight, pick it with a young man. A young man will fight you, an old man will just kill you.
The whole Palin/West dream by some is just that ...a fantasy. Jindal,Rubio,Jeb,Ryan,Cruz run the show now.
The McCain....Newt..Palin....yesterdays news.
NOTICE TO THE RNC and the GOP Congressional Leadership!!!!
WE - the GOP - and the GOP candidates for national office did not “come across” or campaign as a bunch of “angry white men”.
HOWEVER - that was the lie the DNC was telling, a lie the media was prostituting itself to sell for them, a lie YOU REFUSED TO AGRESSIVELY PUT DOWN.
If the public has a perception of the GOP as a bunch of “angry white men” its is because YOU FAILED - YOU FAILED TO AGRESSIVELY COMMUNICATE HOW MUCH THAT WAS A LIE!!!!
Change?
Yes, the GOP needs change - CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP, to leaders who will quit apologizing for our Conservatism!!!!!; leaders who will quit leaving the American people in the hands of a Liberal media that operates as the self-appointed unofficial media arm of the DNC.
As long as you - the RNC and the rest of the GOP leaders - are in denial on that score, you will keep doing to the GOP what the Liberal-Left has been doing to the nation, creating “solutions” that deepen our problems.
Yes they have but fully a third of the eligible voters did not bother to vote. Monied Conservatives better invest in getting the message out, or they will lose their wealth.
Yes we need new blood but being civil with the media or the left is no longer an option.
There is no one to talk to if they tried. McConnell had to dig up Bidens phone number just to find someone in this administration to speak with. Obama hates us. Reid slandered Romney in the well of the senate.
Bonier was right by telling him to f off.
Some of those are favorites of the GOPe and some media, but so far only Cruz has creds.
Palin is "yesterday's news' but Jeb BUSH is running the show?
No wonder the GOP-e is the Stupid PartyTM.
What a loser Party.
This is not the nineties anymore. The takers have taken over. Handouts win, not growth/jobs.
Reince Priebus? Yeah...that’ll work.
...so Mr. Prius...are you going to start closing GOP primaries? We’re tired of crossover dems picking loser candidates for us...
Re your post 55, well-stated. I couldn’t improve upon it.
