Should we eliminate all police officers because the Nazis used police officers to oppress and kill the Jews? What about public works — Hitler loved public works projects? Of course not. These are merely implements that can be used for good or ill, much as gun advocates like to argue about guns themselves. If guns don’t kill people, then neither does gun control cause genocide (genocidal regimes cause genocide).

The really poor aspect if the argument is that no one, him included probably, wants Naziesque policing (if we don’t have it already) or public works (when not made in the interest of football). Okay, maybe the highways. But have you eve seen models for future cities of the Thousand Year Reich? They make Egyptians appear modest in comparison.

There’s a reason when we complain about cops we refer to “gestapo tactics” and “jackbooted thugs.” What the author should’ve asked was should we drop compulsory education, animal rights, or something else both Hitler and most Americans believe in, just because they existed in Nazi Germany. He’s a bad writer is what I’m saying.
