The French may have a laissez-faire attitude about people’s private behavior, and around 50% are not opposed to same sex marriage in and of itself. BUT, the overwhelming majority is opposed to gay adoption, and artificial procreation (paid for by the government).
The socialist President, François Hollande, who is dropping like a lead balloon in the polls- now at 35%, included the artificial procreation elements into his new law. This is what brought out hundreds of thousands into the streets, in the largest demonstrations in France in 30 years.
The kicker is that the idiot Hollande, who refuses to marry his live in girlfriend, the despised Valérie Trierweiler, aka Le Rotweiler, and refused to marry his mistress of 30 years, and mother of his four children, Ségolène Royal. Monsieur President Normal gas states he does not believe in marriage- it is a bourgeois institution!
What the Right in France (UMP) is demanding is a referendum on the law, which of course Hollande would lose.
So called “right winger” Marine le Pen refused to join the demonstrations and refused to condemn the proposed gay marriage law!
