Statement by Gov. Perry on President Obama’s Executive Actions
Office of the Governor, Texas ^ | January 16, 2013 | Rick Perry

Posted on 01/16/2013 1:06:20 PM PST by thackney

Gov. Rick Perry released the following statement regarding President Obama's executive actions:

"The Vice President's committee was appointed in response to the tragedy at Newtown, but very few of his recommendations have anything to do with what happened there.

"Guns require a finger to pull the trigger. The sad young man who did that in Newtown was clearly haunted by demons and no gun law could have saved the children in Sandy Hook Elementary from his terror.

"There is evil prowling in the world - it shows up in our movies, video games and online fascinations, and finds its way into vulnerable hearts and minds. As a free people, let us choose what kind of people we will be. Laws, the only redoubt of secularism, will not suffice. Let us all return to our places of worship and pray for help. Above all, let us pray for our children.

"In fact, the piling on by the political left, and their cohorts in the media, to use the massacre of little children to advance a pre-existing political agenda that would not have saved those children, disgusts me, personally. The second amendment to the Constitution is a basic right of free people and cannot be nor will it be abridged by the executive power of this or any other president."

Unfortunately, Perry will be too old to be president once Obama leaves office in 2029.

For the young man who murdered so many innocent children and their heroic teachers, the events started not at the school, but when he murdered his own mother by shooting her four times in the head while she lay in bed.

At the school, it took the local police 11 minutes to respond but the killing was over. Each child had been shot from 3 to 11 times.

Please do not insult my intelligence by telling me what law would have prevented this. The magnitude of evil that was manifested took years to develop, and I suspect that his shattered family life was a significant component.

Tellingly, the first law that was passed to insult our intelligence and to insult the rule of law, was in New York State. That state doesn’t call itself “The Empire State” for nothing.

In their finest hour, liberals (er, now “progressives”) are all about finding “root causes”. Clearly this is not their finest hour because not a single feature of New York’s new law addresses shattered family life, as if any state law really could. And this in a state with 769 murders in 2011 but only FIVE of which were by rifle.

Judging by the common themes of progressives everywhere in response to the Sandy Hook School Massacre, it is an excuse to chip away at private firearms ownership and nothing else.

Why do I get the impression that these people are more and more like Gollum every day, spitting and hissing at anyone, any point of fact, any point of logic, or any provision of the Constitution, that gets between them and their ‘Precious’?

Me thinks all these things stand in the way of progressives gaining their ‘Precious’. Me thinks we have seen this before, with Lenin with Stalin and with Pol Pot. Me thinks we had better NEVER allow these people to attain their ‘Precious’, for if history is any guide, the much desired Precious Secular Utopia will be hell on earth.

I so wish he had been elected President. A huge loss for our country.

A BIG +1!

Oh, but people here sure hated him.

I crtainly will support him in 2016. He is a good conservative and a man of character. Both attributes will sorely needed in the Presidency in 2016.

Keep talking Rick.

“I wonder if the Republic of Texas is interested in expanding its borders? Annexing a couple of states might well be an avenue of clearing up that issue of sovereignty. I can see the people of several adjoining territories liking this if Gov. Perry continues to support the rights of the people.”

If the SEC just let Texas A&M join, maybe they can reciprocate... add the ACC too!

Hey, I love violent video games. I wish people would shut up about them. Did anyone else see that stupid game Lanza played?

“the mother knew there was a mental health situation”

And how do you know this?

Because news reports stated that she knew he was having mental/social problems before this happened and she even was thinking about getting him pscyhiatric help...and friends of the family said she was even considering having him admitted to a mental hospital.

Back when we were taught positive values in school, when heroes wore white hats and said “ma’am”, when we sang Christmas Carols in the School gym, before the “don’t put your values on me” crowd took over, we came to school with rifles in our trucks, when shooting after school, no massacres. We were proud to be Americans and certain we were born in the greatest country ever devised.

Now, stripped of those values and fed the values and images and heroes that render most unable to, literally, distinguish between good and evil, this process begins bearing fruit in the most evil manifestations.

What does evil do ? Work to remove our means of defense against itself while continuing to destroy our founding principles. Demonic indeed.

Governor Perry is right. Evil prowls throughout our land, every day, and always has.

I feel that there are likely SOME measures we could take, but in the end, it’s a risk we live with in a free society. We also live with the risk that we’ll be mauled by a bear, run over by a car, or hit by lightning. I think statistically, we have about as much a chance of those things as we do being killed by a random shooter.

And kids die, too, everyday. They die in auto accidents, through accidental everything — in plane crashes, in violent homes, drownings, drug poisonings, through incurable disease, dangerous viruses — and we can’t always stop it.

Risk exists. Evil exists. Sometimes there’s NOTHING we can do about it, except trust in God’s Will for our lives!!

But try to tell that to libs. They want to try and “do something” about every single problem and they actually think they CAN ward off all evil.

The Left want to play hardball, let's play.

Then start filing Federal Civil Rights lawsuits. The Supreme Court opened that door wide.

That is the sheer fact of the matter.

But facts never stop Liberals when they are on a tear.

And the entire Liberal agenda is now infused with the Obama modus-operandi - your ideology comes first, not the truth, so never let a good crisis go to waste; exploit it to advance your ideology, not becuase it solves anything other than advancing your ideoolgy, period.

I haven’t been able to find any comment from our governor, she better speak up real soon. She’s starting to be a disappointment.

Nikki Haley, where are you on this?

I like your governor, too. This country would be on its way to a much better place if he had managed to win the presidency. He’s a good man.
