Easiest and simplest gun to maintain; ammo is available worldwide.
I had an older WASR-10 7.62 but, sadly, it was devoured by steel termites ....
A couple things to look for if examining an older WASR.
Century Int’l imported these Romanian carbines and machined-out the magazine well so it would hold larger magazines.
There wasn’t much `fit and finish’ particularly in the early models, so you may find tooling marks.
But they don’t effect performance, the price was right, mine went bang every time and they hit to point of aim. Anyone who tells you an AK isn’t accurate probably hasn’t shot one and/or is comparing it to an AR.
OK,
imp: Some of the early WASR front sites were canted, so make sure it isn’t screwy or you face having to fix it.
Also, if the trigger doesn’t have `TAPCO’ stamped on it you may have some `trigger slap’ and that’s no good, but you can remedy that as well with a Dremel.
You cleaned your AK, Victor? WASR chrome-lined barrel, I thought that was optional! ;^) At your service, td.
The Russians have freighter loads full of their ammo steaming across the Atlantic right now. They are Capitalists these days... obama and our government... not so much.
