Google "how to disable Java" and you'll find a number of solutions depending on what version of Java you're running and browser too.
The Java program (icon) can be found by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel. Right click JAVA and Open.

My choice was uninstall so I did. Something is wrong as Firefox quit yesterday after an update. I no longer have firefox.
