An operator of a highly popular YouTube channel dedicated to high-powered guns and explosives was found mysteriously shot to death, authorities said.
Keith Ratliff, who was a business partner at FPSRussia, YouTube's ninth most popular channel with more than three million active subscribers and a combined half billion views, was discovered on a rural road in Carnesville, Georgia.
Ratliff had a single gunshot wound the head and police are treating his death as a homicide.
When authorities made the grisly discovery on Thursday, they noticed there were several guns near Ratliff, according to a local radio station report.
'For him not to pull out that gun and try to defend himself, he had to feel comfortable around somebody. Either that or he was ambushed,' said Ratliff's heartbroken widow, Amanda.

Let's be careful out there.
What crap.
I carry - but not my whole damn armory. If they ever find me dead by the side of the road there will only be one weapon "near" me - and I hope to hell it'll be empty with an empty magazine beside it.
For the weapons not to be stolen in the first place is suspicious. That means he was shot for something other than theft - and even then I can't see the shooter(s) leaving the guns.
For the guns to be found, they were meant to be found.
I thought the original account said he was found shot in his office.
The story a few days ago said he was found in his office.
The ballistics report on this one would be very interesting.
I hadn’t seen that. Got a link?
Good post, and a good story, but “cult boss” realllly skews the picture:
The channel is popular, and this guy is his buddy, the geekier of the two.
There is no cult and there is no boss.
There is very tight public focus on the question of GUNS, so WHAT PARTY would this murder benefit.
It’s dark, and it’s obvious, and it is in keeping with the character of that person/group.
Lemme guess, the caliber was .38 (same as that found in Vince Foster’s hand).
I didn’t write the headline, obviously.
YouTube channel producer for fellow gun enthusiasts was found fatally shot in the head in his Carnesville, Ga., home on Jan. 3. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Juuust before tax deadline, what happens...? Celebrities get audited and/or prosecuted.
Why? Because each person then feels, “Gosh, wow, it happened to someone I KNOW..!!!” and then the total public deterrent value is far, far out of proportion to the effort required.
This is to fill us with the sense that people are getting gunned down left and right —he didn’t resist because the killer was in uniform and approached him under the premise that oversight was needed for something he was doing:
Use of some new explosive for a reactive target they were going to try out.
Have you noticed that FPS is the ONE gunner YouTuber who has had NOTHING to say about Sandy Hook and the torrent of impending legislation..?
In a rather macabre bit of irony, a self-professed "gun nut" who was a YouTube channel producer for fellow gun enthusiasts was found fatally shot in the head in his Carnesville, Ga., home on Jan. 3. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

My critique was not aimed at you AT ALL —apologies if it came off sounding that way.
Nah. It’s cool.
Now there’s a classic example of a cult of personality...not!
Were there any government drones flying around in the area?
